Money Converter – Privacy Policy

Effective date: November 5, 2026

Money Converter is a Chrome extension that converts amounts between currencies, crypto coins and precious metals and shows exchange rate charts. This policy explains what the extension does with data.

What we collect

Nothing. The extension has no account, no sign-in, no ads and no analytics. We do not collect, sell or share personal data, browsing history or the content of the websites you visit.

What stays in your browser

  • Settings (your currencies, amount, theme, fee and other options) are saved with Chrome's storage. If Chrome sync is on, Chrome copies them to your other computers through your Google account; we cannot see them.
  • Exchange rates and chart data are cached locally so the converter works offline.

Text you select on a page

The extension looks at a web page only when you ask it to: when you click its toolbar icon or choose "Convert" in the right-click menu. Then it reads only the text you selected, to find an amount and a currency, and shows the result. This text is processed on your device and is never sent anywhere or stored. The extension has no permission to read websites in the background.

Network requests

To get exchange rates the extension downloads public data from these services. The requests contain only currency codes and dates, never personal data; like any website, these services receive your IP address as part of the connection.

  • Frankfurter – frankfurter.dev (central bank reference rates and rate history)
  • Currency API by fawazahmed0 – latest.currency-api.pages.dev and cdn.jsdelivr.net (backup rates)
  • ExchangeRate-API open access – open.er-api.com (backup rates)
  • Coinbase public exchange rates – api.coinbase.com (crypto prices, only when a crypto coin is shown)

Chrome Web Store User Data Policy

The use of information received by the extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Changes

If the extension ever starts to handle data differently, this page will be updated before that version is published, with a new effective date.
